Waist Circumference
Your waist circumference is also an accurate indicator of whether or not you are at risk of cardiovascular disease or type 2 diabetes. Carrying excess body fat around your middle is more of a health risk than if that weight is on your hips and thighs. Waist circumference is a better estimate of visceral fat, the dangerous internal fat that coats the organs.
For men, a waist circumference of 37 inches / 94 cm or more indicates an increased risk of chronic disease and a measurement of 40 inches / 102 cm centimetres or more indicates a higher increased risk of chronic disease.
For women, a waist circumference of 31 inches / 80 centimetres or more indicates an increased risk of chronic disease and a measurement of 34 inches / 88 centimetres or more indicates a higher increased risk of chronic disease.
