Water and Our Health

We can live for about a month without food, but only a week without water.

This fact alone demonstrates how crucial water is to our health. Also, about 60 percent of our bodies are made up of water. Hydration is key essential in helping to maintain our internal organs and the many essential mechanisms (such as digestion) that take place every minute of every day inside our amazing bodies.

Each day we lose two to three litres through our sweat, urine and bowel movements and even just from breathing, so we need to compensate that fluid loss and maintain the balance in our bodies to optimise health. Despite this, the research suggests that about half of us don’t drink enough water.

So perhaps we all need to refocus our attention on why it’s so important? And let’s face it, of all the health tips out there, drinking more water cannot be the hardest one. All it requires is a little planning and determination.
