Oceane-weight-loss

Océane’s story is one of incredible transformation and resilience. Through the support of the Motivation Weight Management Team at our Swords clinic, she successfully lost just over 4 stone.

Océane’s journey highlights the profound impact of addressing not just the physical aspects of weight loss, but also the mental and emotional challenges. Here’s how a change in mindset helped Océane achieve lasting success and a healthier, happier life.

“I struggled pretty much my whole life with weight,” she starts. “My mental weight was 50 kilos more than what I was actually.” This mental burden made her efforts feel insurmountable. But with the help of her Motivation consultant, everything began to change. “My nutritionist tried to change my mindset slowly. Everything changed completely, like my whole lifestyle changed. Just week by week, it was just great.”

The difference this time was a focus on mindset rather than just diet and exercise. “If the mindset doesn’t change, then the next one [diet will probably fail again,” Océane emphasises. She had tried many things before, but nothing worked long-term. “I’ve lost weight but always gained it back. I have a friend who lost weight here and maintained it. So I was like, maybe that’s the one. This is why I came here to try, and it worked for me too.”

Most programs she tried before were done solo, without support or guidance. “Basically, I could lose weight, but because I didn’t change the way I was behaving towards food, I gained that weight back,” she explains. This program was different. It wasn’t about cutting out the foods she loved but about moderation and understanding her relationship with food. “I love carbs like pasta, rice, and all that, and you need that in a diet. But most of the programs I tried before were about cutting that completely.”

This time, her consultant helped her gradually adopt healthier habits. “She’s gonna try to change my mindset slowly to get me into good habits and basically a brand new lifestyle. And that started with a weight questionnaire. My mental weight was 50 kilos more than what I was actually.”

Reflecting on her transformation, Océane notes, “I’m done with the program almost a year now, and everything changed completely like my whole lifestyle changed towards food and exercising. So I think that’s why I can maintain and even lose more weight.”

Before, Océane disliked photos of herself and blamed the camera angles. “I liked myself in the mirror but hated myself in the photos,” she admits. A doctor’s visit was a wake-up call. “I was 90 kilos, and I was like, no, that’s not okay. I need to change that.” Little things, like being out of breath climbing stairs, added up, pushing her to seek a lasting solution.

Despite past failures, she decided to try again. “I failed in so many programs before, I thought I just couldn’t lose weight. Maybe it’s hormonal, or maybe I’m just meant to look this way.” But she loved food, restaurants, and takeaways, often using them as rewards. “Every time I was proud of something, I’d have a nice takeaway. I could be proud of myself three or four times a week, so that’s quite a lot.”

The first session with her consultant felt promising. “She asked me what type of food I love and told me that’s going to be included in my program. Just control the portion a bit more.” The results were quick and steady. “I lost two kilos the first week and kept losing weight every week. Every week was just great.”

Océane’s confidence grew with each compliment she received. “I feel a lot more confident because people are complimenting me about my weight.” She also found a new love for exercise. “I didn’t like the gym at all. My exercise was a 30-minute walk every day. Now, I exercise six days a week. I run more or less three times a week, go to a personal trainer twice a week. Now, I love it. I don’t have to do it; I actually enjoy it.”

One unexpected benefit was financial savings. “I actually saved so much money with the program because I stopped all those takeaways and restaurant meals.” This mindset change meant she continued to save money even after the program ended, as her habits had permanently shifted.

“The program made me realise it’s not what I was eating, but why I was eating that,” Océane reflects. Weekly check-ins and the mental weight questionnaire helped her understand her eating habits. “Why am I eating like that? Why am I rewarding myself with food when I could just have a book or go for a nice walk?”

Océane’s journey shows that sustainable weight loss requires a change in mindset. “I would definitely recommend it because if you want to lose weight and keep losing weight, you need to work on your mindset. That’s what’s happening here.”
