Philly Caldwell's Story

A friend of mine texted me during the week and said drop everything and listen to the guy telling his story over on the Ray D’Arcy show on RTE Radio 1. I couldn’t as I was in between client consultations but I did listen back to the interview with one Philly ‘Flipper’ Caldwell as it was subsequently posted as a podcast.

This is a most remarkable story and an even more remarkable human being.

If you don’t know Philly Caldwell’s story then I won’t spoil it by telling you here.

But what I want to do is to anchor Philly’s story, give it a place to reside within the framework of losing and maintaining weight.

There is so much to be learned from listening to other life stories and journeys.

Here at Motivation, we coach clients through challenging issues – plateaus, guilt, lack of motivation, lack of self-confidence, lack of self-belief and a raft of other issues. We provide the support and tools to navigate and overcome these issues for both short-term and long-term effect.

Paradoxically, the path to losing weight is not necessarily about losing weight but overcoming the core elements of what we call your Mental Weight.

Philly’s story introduces several concepts and chief among them is reframing.

Reframing is to frame or express words or a concept or plan differently.

Think of the Dimmer Switch which is the title of one of our Assist Sheets. This approach reframes your approach from one of a light bulb to that of a dimmer switch.

The Dimmer Switch is just one example that springs to mind.

Take some time today or over the weekend to listen to Philly Caldwell’s story – it is both moving and inspirational, and I’m so grateful to Philly for sharing it.
