What is Intermittent fasting

Intermittent fasting: What is it and is it safe?

Intermittent fasting is one of the latest fad diets that you may have heard about. This involves going for long periods without having any sort of food.

This type of dieting is not recommended as it can lead to many side-effects such as, muscle loss because your body is not getting enough protein at regular intervals, inner tremors or shaking and a feeling of weakness in your body, even mood swings, but the most common side-effect from this type of dieting is hypoglycaemia or low blood sugar.

This usually happens in the afternoon or evening where you will experience cravings for sweet or savoury foods and end up picking at food throughout the evening. This can lead to overeating and even bingeing.

Always make sure to eat something every 3 to 4 hours to avoid getting low blood sugar and make sure to always have a source of protein at each meal.

So intermittent fasting is not recommended to lose weight, the best healthy eating plan to follow to lose weight successfully without having any cravings or feeling deprived is a high protein low carb plan like we provide at our clinics.
