Ruby Murray
Did you know……

Ruby Murray was a Belfast born singer who was one of the most popular singers in the UK in the 1950s. So popular that for one week in 1955, she had no fewer than five singles in the Top 20 at once.

Ruby Murray of course is also Cockney slang for a curry. Who knows where and when this slang originated but in the immediate years after WWII as London was being rebuilt, Asian immigrants added curry to the menu of their restaurants?

Some bright Cockney spark obviously continued the slang tradition and as they say, the rest is history.
